All wiring must be covered and inaccessible in accordance with local safety
and electrical codes. The heated mirror pad
must not be accessible once it is installed.
The electrical installation must be in accordance with the latest local
electrical codes.
NOTE: IF IN DOUBT REGARDING THE ELECTRICAL CONNECTION, CONSULT A
QUALIFIED ELECTRICIAN.
INSTALLATION
FOR MOUNTING ON THE WALL
1. Hold the pad against the wall to determine the best location. The
top of the pad should be slightly higher than the height of the tallest
person who will be using the mirror. Position the pad vertically and horizontally,
within the limits of the mirror, for optimum viewing. When this is complete,
mark the corners and the wiring terminal block locations on the wall.
2. Cut out a recess in the wall for the terminal block, and a hole through
the drywall for the wire. It should be large enough so that the heated
mirror pad is flush against the wall when installed. This hole will be
covered by the mirror, so allow yourself enough room for final mirror adjustment.
3. Pass the end of the wire through the hole and up into the electrical
junction box for the vanity light.
4. Position the pad with the terminal block in the recess, and hold
the pad in position with small pieces of tape at the four corners. The
tape needs to hold the pad in position only until the mirror is in place.
5. Make the electrical connection See electrical notes and cautions
on page 1. TURN OFF THE ELECTRICITY TO THE VANITY LIGHT, AT THE DISTRIBUTION
CENTER, BEFORE DOING ANY ELECTRICAL WORK.
6. Place the mirror into position on the wall. Make sure that the mirror
is flat against the wall.
7. Attach the mirror following the mirror manufacturer's instructions.
If mirror mastic, or other adhesive is used for mounting, do not allow
it to come into contact with the heated mirror pad.
Instructions for mounting to the back of the mirror are attached
to the pads.
IMPORTANT
TO AVOID DAMAGE TO THE MIRROR, AND IN COMMON WITH NORMAL PRACTICE,
THE FOLLOWING POINTS SHOULD BE FOLLOWED.
1. Make certain that the wall is firm, flat, level and dry. Very important
for mounting to the wall.
2. The mirror must be flat across its entire surface at all times to
prevent cracking.
3. Screws must not be overly tightened and adjusted evenly to insure
an even mirror.
4. Never rest anything against the mirror surface which will prevent
the heat from dissipating fully and evenly.
5. If the heated mirror pad is to be installed behind irregular shaped
mirrors, or if the mirror has been weakened in anyway, extra care must
be taken not to create any excess stresses.
NOTE: The heated mirror pad must not be cut, or punctured, as
this will damage the insulation, rendering it unsafe.
The heated mirror pad is self regulating, designed to operate
continuously with complete safety. As the ambient room temperature rises,
so will the surface temperature of the mirror.
