To meet various plumbing challenges many new fixtures have been developed. PEX Manifolds is one such device developed for the convenience of distribution of water into various rooms. A manifold is attached to the main water line and distributed to all the locations. Manifold can be used for general distribution of water or for specific purpose of floor heating. Hot water is circulated in PEX pipes which are fixed under the wooden floor. Hot water which gets out of the boiler is sent to all the rooms with the help of a manifold. It is redistributed into the number of pipes in every room.The greatest advantage of a manifold is the ability to shut off water in individual pipes. Water can be shut off to a room as well by turning the valve of the manifold which distributes water to various rooms. Un-occupied rooms need not be heated so the sectional shut off facility can be utilized. It can bring down the electricity bills to a great extent.
It is short pipe with inlet and outlets. There are many kinds of manifolds with different types of inlet and outlet systems and different sizes can be seen. The side outlets are usually of 1/2". The outlet can support a 1/2" PEX pipe. These outlets have valves to control the water flow. A valve is a mechanical device which when adjusted can let the water to flow and when it is turned by a quarter the water can be shut. Adjusting the valve can be down by physically moving the handle to the on and off positions.
Of the many kinds of manifolds PEX manifold F x M sweat inlets is a kind. It is a combination of male and female type of pipe fixing. At one end the PEX pipe is moved into the manifold arm and at the other end the manifold arm is pushed into the PEX pipe. A manifold is a short copper pipe with two, three and four ports of 1/2" diameter. The style of joining the pipe to the manifold is the sweat style which is the most popular form to connect a PEX pipe. The main copper pipe is of 1" diameter and the inlet outlet sizes are also of one inch. The PEX pipes that can be attached to the manifold are of one inch. Choice of the manifold depends on the pipes which are to be used.
