Alcatel cables can be tailored to follow contours of curves and around
objects. Care should be exercised with regard to expansion joints. All joints
should be bridged beneath the slab so expansion joint movement does not damage
the cable. Alcatel cables can be tailored to any configuration.
Selection of snow melting cable is accomplished by determining the size of
the area to be heated and the voltage required.
To determine proper cable:
Determine size of area. For complete snow/ice melting. Length
times width. For tire tracks only, allow two foot width times length of drive.
For sidewalks, steps and porches, length times width. A drawing is required to
scale for final estimate.
CONTROLS
Automatic control operates more efficiently than manual controls for Alcatel
cables. Moisture and temperature sensors can be mounted in the concrete or
above the pavement surface.
When sleet, snow or freezing rain is present, power is applied to the
heating cables. The cable will operate until the sensor is satisfied that
precipitation or freezing conditions has passed through the area.
We offer a manual override system. This feature is used to remove snow that
is tracked onto the pavement after the sensor has been satisified.
Custom control panels are available for large projects.
Sensors are available for driveways and sidewalks.
DESIGN CONSIDERATIONS
What voltages are available
How many steps are there?
Is there a landing?
We require a scale drawing of the area to be heated in relation to
the house and garage.
