Tips and Tricks to Repairing PVC Couplings
PVC FittingsPVC ElbowsPVC CouplingsPVC happens to be a very special kind of material, which is used worldwide for manufacturing plumbing conduits and pipes. The great advantage about PVC fittings is that this material is strong yet light in weight and highly resistant to a variety of environmental conditions. PVC Couplings refer to the connection by which two pipes get welded together. Whenever you notice a crack or a leak, it is time to repair the PVC couplings. What You Need In order to repair the couplings, you need:
Turning Off Supply First, you want to turn off the supply of liquid into the pipe where the repair has to happen. Take the towel and wipe the coupling down thoroughly to ensure it is clean and dry from spills and liquids. Sand the outer edge of the PVC couplings and the inner portion of the hole with the sandpaper. Fill in the Blanks Next, you will need to fill the gaps using the silicone caulk, which is waterproof. Start from a distance of 6 inches under the hole or the gap and start wrapping the PVC tape over the coupling area. Make sure to follow the instructions as provided by the manufacturer when doing this. Let the tape cure and this should seal the gap thoroughly!
