How to Get Rid of Pinhole Leaks in PVC Elbows

Even extremely small leaks within a pipe can result in damages within the home. However, with simple temporary repair solutions, it is possible to protect the house from leaks originating out of PVC elbows.

What You Need

In order to repair the crack in the PVC elbows you need the following:
  • PVC primer
  • PVC glue
  • Gloves for protection
  • Epoxy dispenser or caulk gun
  • Epoxy
  • PVC pipe as a spare
  • Heat gun


Finding the Source

First, you need to find the source of the leak inside the PVC fittings. Make sure to follow the source of the water to locate the exact position of the leak.

Turn off Water

This is crucial as otherwise the water pressure within the PVC elbows can make repairs more difficult. The flow of the water can reduce the efficiency of adhesives used for repairing the hole.

Filling with Primer

Make sure to fill up the crack or the hole with the primer after, which you need to apply PVC glue. Use the gloves when using these chemical adhesives because some of them cause damage when they contact the skin.

Apply Glue

After this, apply the PVC glue to the hole on the PVC elbows and let this dry thoroughly before turning on water supply.
