How to connect your UCCG-9991-EA electronic programmable thermostat w/floor temperature sensor

Microline UCCG-9991-EA programmable thermostat for radiant electric floor heating has number of unique features like GFCI protection, learning function or energy usage report. To try it out it needs to be installed and connected first.

UCCG is dual voltage but the heating mats or tubings are always single voltage 120V OR 230-240V. Power supply Voltage and mat's Voltage have to be the same. Connection is identical for either Voltage. For 240V power wires are marked as L1 and L2. For 120V power wires are marked L (Line or Hot, usually black) and N (Neutral, usually white).

Whether connecting one or more mats or one or more tubings always observe maximum load allowed for the line and the thermostat!. Max. load is 16 A. That's 1800W @ 120V or 3800W @ 240V. If the line allows for connecting more load the contactor has to be used.

Our thermostats Contain no Mercury - a highly poisonous substance present in lethal quantities in many older thermostat models and many still on the market.

Indoor application only. Outdoor snowmelting needs special controls.

Connection of Elektra MG in-floor radiant heating mat with 2 connecting cords, 120V or 230-240V:
When more than one mat is connected - connect color coded wires of the mats together and then to the thermostat like shown above.

Connection of Elektra MD in-floor heating mat with 1 connecting cord (120V or 240V) or VCD tubing with 1 connecting cord (230-240V only):
When more than one heating mat or heating tubing is connected - connect color coded wires of the mats together and then to the thermostat like shown above.
Connection of Elektra VC heating tubing, 2 ends connected, 230-240V ONLY:
When more than one heating tubing is connected - connect color coded wires of the mats together and then to the thermostat like shown above.
Don't forget floor temperature sensor!
The sensor can be installed directly in the mud. It is better (but harder) to install it in the conduit - allowing easy replacement when sometimes in the future new thermostat models become available. 1"-3" away from the heating coil is best. (The thinner the mud job - the closer to 1" distance it should be).





After installation. 4 QUICK TIPS.

To quickly set up this thermostat for usage, use factory settings.
Locate tiny R button right under the display. With something small like toothpick, press and hold it for 3 seconds.
This will conveniently invoke factory settings.
You will need to set current time and then current day of the week: 1-MON, 2-TUE, 3-WED, 4-THU, 5-FRI, 6-SAT, 7-SUN.
Use UP or DOWN buttons:

To check GFCI, manually raise the temperature using UP button so the thermostat starts sending current to the floor to heat it up. You should hear a quiet click and see the ∫∫∫ symbol in the bottom right corner of the screen.

When you do, wait 10 seconds and press GFCI test button. You should hear a disengaging click and the red GFCI light will come on.

Your GFCI's OK! Repeat this monthly like with any other GFCI protected device.

To use the thermostat in the manual mode simply use the UP or DOWN buttons:

If after installation E2 error code appears - the floor temperature sensor is not connected or the connection is weak. Reinsert the senor wire into the gray terminal on the back of the thermostat or refer to the thermostat's manual.


Floor temperature sensing thermostat will be cycling the electricity flow to power the in-floor mat ON and OFF to keep the floor at the preset temperature, thererfore saving energy especially when compared with electrical appliances continuously drawing power. In the typical settings for the programmable thermostat with the adaptive-learning function, an average ON time is only 3-4 hrs for every 24 hrs of usage.

Radiant electric floor heating being low Wattage and low temperature heating is considered VERY ENERGY EFFICIENT

MTC is single voltage 120V. Power supply Voltage and mat's Voltage have to be the same. 120V only.

120V power wires are marked L (Line or Hot) and N(Neutral). 3rd wire is ground - either bare copper or green.

Whether connecting one or more mats always observe maximum load allowed for the line and the thermostat!. Max. load is 16 A. That's 1800W @ 120V. If the line allows for connecting more load then the contactor has to be used. A need for contactor will generally apply to 200 or more s.f. heated floor coverage

Please remember: Electricity can be deadly and wiring done incorrectly can kill and start deadly and destructive fires even when "just replacing one small receptacle."

YOU ARE DEALING WITH LINE VOLTAGE, not low voltage!
